About this website

The Tao of Mission Assurance is a blog dedicated to talking about the past, present and future of Mission Assurance as a set of disciplines, and Mission Assurance Management as a Risk Management profession. The purpose of this blog, and the book of the same name, is to address a foreseen capabilities gap in the field of Mission Assurance, that is necessary to support not only current satellite development, launch and operations, but more importantly the coming expected surge in space systems development in an era of customers demanding "faster" and "less expensive" space capabilities, and an economic and social reality that absolutely depends on ubiquitous and reliable services that these systems provide. The method employed to address this capabilities gap, is to bring attention to the many professionally rewarding aspects of the field, and the importance of, indeed criticality of Quality, Safety, Security and Specialty Engineering to mission success. The method of bringing this attention is to talk about how Mission Assurance came about, how it turned into what it is now, how to better perform our jobs in the field of Mission Assurance, and as always, to keep up the continuous battle against the negative perception that Mission Assurance "isn't as important" as the many other engineering, business and management roles on a space development program.
